Biography (Stephen's Life in a Nutshell)
Some would argue it should have been a nut house...

A Dallas native, Stephen first experienced missions through a church trip to Jamaica.  He graduated from Trinity Christian Academy in 1989.  While later studying biology at Wheaton College, Stephen was impacted by helping provide a Sunday school to Chicago inner city kids, and also through his evangelism professor’s discipleship.

After college, Stephen gained experiences working in personal finance, teaching 5th and 6th grade, and finally, computer software training. His true-life passions were reawakened, however, after getting involved with a ministry bringing low-income, Hispanic kids to Northwest Bible Church.  In an effort to have a greater impact on the kids’ lives, Stephen and some friends began weekly visits after work to build relationships through games and crafts.  Those visits developed into a thriving weekly kids’ club with a highly committed group of weekly volunteers.  Spanish adult ministry, visitation, and a bilingual Sunday worship service have all developed into aspects of this same ministry we now call Hidalgo.

Stephen’s goal is to take this foundation and pour his life into developing a thriving, reproducing, Christ-serving community among the Hispanic population in the Hidalgo apartment area.  He aims to do this through serving, encouraging, and equipping his Hidalgo teammates; increasing his Spanish to allow him to build relationships with the entire Hispanic family; and mobilizing other leaders to serve, evangelize, and disciple at Hidalgo.

Appointed as a local missionary with CAM International, Stephen is now ministering fulltime at Hidalgo.
